Spotlight Story: Haley Davis

Meet Haley Davis, MS, BCBA, LBA

Clinical Manager at Autism ETC – Clarksville/Harnett Court

Haley Davis grew up in a small town just outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Her story begins during her college years in Murfreesboro, where she initially set her sights on becoming a psychologist. “I wanted to help people and change lives,” she shared. Having a sister on the autism spectrum, Haley witnessed firsthand the challenges her family faced in a region where ABA therapy wasn’t yet available. This personal experience deeply impacted her path.

During college, a mentor who knew of her sister’s diagnosis introduced Haley to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). That mentor, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), educated her about ABA therapy and its life-changing impact. Inspired, Haley shifted her focus from psychology to pursuing a career as a BCBA—a field that aligned perfectly with her passion for making a difference.

Haley began researching ABA centers and found opportunities in Clarksville, Tennessee. She accepted a position at a local clinic and soon became a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). While the experience was formative, she sought greater growth. Her search led her to post a few questions on social media, which ultimately connected her with Autism ETC. Encouraged by the conversation, she reached out and was hired in May 2017 at the Hatcher Lane location in Clarksville.

Reflecting on her early impressions, Haley said, “I was really impressed with how the BCBAs supported clients, families, and RBTs. That solidified my goal to become a BCBA.” She enrolled in the Master’s program at Lipscomb University in Nashville and successfully passed her BCBA exam in May 2018. In February 2019, when the center relocated to Professional Park Drive, Haley was promoted to Senior BCBA. As the new location quickly reached capacity, plans emerged for a second clinic. In December 2021, the Harnett Court location opened, and Haley stepped into her current role as Clinical Manager.

Celebrating Milestones, Big and Small

Haley finds immense joy in the everyday breakthroughs she witnesses. “When a client says their first word, I get to be there. It’s amazing every time,” she said. “Even small milestones—something that may take a client a year to achieve—are cause for celebration. These become the building blocks we build upon.”

Words of Encouragement for Families

For families new to the autism journey, Haley offers heartfelt advice: “Take a deep breath. You don’t have to do everything at once. You don’t have to climb the mountain in a day. Take on small hills one at a time. You will get there with your child.”

Life Beyond the Clinic

Outside of work, Haley enjoys life in a rural setting with her husband, two dogs, a cat, and a flock of chickens. “We love to travel and just spend time together,” she said.
